Psychedelic Pop/Prog: A New Place To Live (Robert John Gallo) - A New Place To Live 1972 (Mandala) Vinyl

An interesting piece and it seems that not much is known about it. It is listed under Robert John Gallo but the album was just released as A New Place to Live. Apparently RJG conducted and wrote all the music but other than that, it seems that a band called The Sounds of Modification did all the music. Discogs even lists a guy named Joey Carbone as the lead singer here. I don't know but it is a full on progressive psych pop odyssey from 1972. Sure, a bit past it's sell by date but full on appreciated by seekers such as myself. Anyway, I like it. The material isn't excellently written or anything but it is positively dripping with psych influences, with some folk rock elements and three spoken word sections. Overall, this sounds like a record from 1967/68 and should be a curiosity for anyone checking out 70s pop records. A good thing, this.(geldofpunk, reader rateyourmusic.com)

The correct artist name for this album is Robert John Gallo, who also released several other albums, some under the name Robert John. On this one, he appears to have been backed by The Sounds of Modification, a Long, Is, NY outfit who also released an album in 1968. This is a reasonably solid, mostly semi-commercial pop/psych album, featuring some horns here and there. The album was recorded in Long Is., NY, though Gallo was a Canuck.(tymeshifter, reader rateyourmusic.com)

Album inside
I was too lazy to translate...:-) )

And here my two cents: Discogs says RJ Gallo conducted, produced and wrote the album nearly complete.'Allmusic' listed the album Robert John Gallo - A New Place To Live. If the 'Sounds Of Modification' is the backing band here i don't know. What i know is that this is a very good psychedelic pop album with a little prog. Recommended. Enjoy.(Frank)
