What a treasure this 13 track release from 1971 really is. In addition to 12 original LP tracks, this release includes the A side from their only non-LP single - The Loser (by no means the best track here). I am unsure how the band achieved this but Aubrey Small S/T is one of these releases that fits together seemlessly although every track is a bit different other than featuring great harmonies, musicianship (keyboards + guitars) and thoughtful lyrics. Ballads, psych, prog and pop are all swirled together into a mix that will keep this on your play-list for months. Personal favorites include Gardenia, It's Morning and Oh What A Day It's Been but yours may be different. At the time this was recorded in 1971, bands were trying to make LPs rather than singles but weak tracks frequently showed up. Not the case here.(Purple Sub, amazon customer)
I randomly chanced across this band after searching for Badfinger videos on YouTube, and I'm so grateful that I did. Aubrey Small is an extremely talented quartet, and nearly every song on this CD is simply great. My favorite songs from the album are "Trying to Find My Way," "It's Morning," "The Loser," "Love On," and "Country Road." If you're a fan of Badfinger, I'm almost positive you'll dig this album.
It's a travesty, an absolute travesty, that Aubrey Small is all but unheard of in a world so devoid of quality music.(BadfingerFan, amazon customer)
Haha today is amazon customer day. But why not?
You can't find a filler here. ''If I Were You'', ''Gardenia'', Born To Be'' are absolute hghlights, but the special thing is, I could have called other songs. The band shows here with every song that their songs were composed and recorded on the highest level. A very special album. A ''must have'' in my opinnion. Enjoy (Frank)
