Marvelous '70s British Power Pop: The Jetz - The Anthology 1977 - 1979 (2011 Queen Mum Records)
The Queen recently had a lot to do with the accurate selection of knickers of her in-laws, which is why she gave the really important things to Kidnap of THE NOT AMUSED, like this masterpiece with lost recordings of the legendary powerpop maestros THE JETZ from Cheshunt in the homeland of that shriveled lady.
Where two years ago Sing Sing Records did the record collector crowd a big favor by re-releasing the extremely rare "Catch Me/Breaking It Down"-7" from 1977, for which the sale of the family-owned small car would surely have been necessary in the original, Kidnap has now dedicated himself to the hidden treasures of the band, of which no one would have known without his work.
Beside the title song of those 7" there are eleven more tracks on this record, which have never been released before, which the band has completely reworked and renewed and which, to anticipate it, are all on the same classic level as the anthem "Catch me" without exception.
Even the four live songs, which often serve as filling material on other records of the KBD genre, are without exception outstanding.
As a result of the great Powerpop songs on this record, the likewise outstanding Artwork and the entire work into the procurement and organization of the recordings, one can only say that this must be regarded as absolute obligation acquisition for everyone, which can begin also only remotely something with classical Punkrock and Powerpop, and for each record collector anyway.(ox-fanzine.de)
"The sound through and through, crisp, energetic
and melodic, is absolutely great, which is also true
for the live tracks. A sound as British as the Queen.
For Powerpop supporters completely essential,
but also '77 - '79 punk rock maniacs and Modsound
friends should strike without restraint!".(excerpt Moloko magazine, 2011)
These are just two of the countless reviews that celebrated this fantastic compilation in 2011 when it was released. You won't find a weak song on the album. One of my absolute favorite 70's Power Pop albums. Powerful, raw and catchy melody lines make the Jetz an absolute cult band. Really highly recommendable. Enjoy.(Frank)
