To avoid misunderstandings, this is not'' The Doc Thomas Group'', which later became'' Mott The Hoople''. These guys came from California, Los Angeles and formed the band 1966 around drummer Tony Thomas, whose father was a well-known TV personality at the time. The band soon signed a contract with Lou Adler's label Dunhill. The debut single was produced and written by P.F.Sloan/Steve Barri. Greg Clifford (vocals) and Myron Howard (guitar) were, as far as i know, the only musicians from the band who recorded the album together with studio musicians. The album is a really fine pop/sunshine pop album from the middle to the end of the sixties and is reminiscent of acts like the Monkees, Beach Boys or the acts who Curt Boettcher produced at the time. Wonderful good mood pop radio and beach music with some folk influences here and there. If you like american Sunshine Pop from the sixties, this is an album for you. If you want to buy it, you can do it

I'm truly amazed. This is just a hidden gem. The fact that I haven't even heard about this group makes things even more surprising. Catchy melodies, amazing harmonies and a superb production. Thanks a lot for sharing this group with us!
ReplyDeleteIt took me 15 years of trying before I found a record label to put this out. So glad it finally happened.
